Rec you P&S Camera
I know we've talked about this before, so bring on the suggestions.
No DSLR right now, we're thinking that will be our christmas gift next year though.
I was looking at the Canon Powershot SD3500 IS, but it gets mixed reviews on amazon.
My last one was a sony and it did well, I had nikon before that, but the pics started coming out blurry after a couple years.
ETA: I think we want to spend about $250-$300 budget wise.
Re: Rec you P&S Camera
we just borrowed FIL's Nikon S3000 this weekend for the Baptism (forgot ours before we left the house). It was a perfect test for it since we would be in low lighting in the church. I took my camera (also a Nikon, but a much older model) to the same church for this couples wedding 2 years ago. All the pictures came out like crap 2 years ago.
This time it was so nice. We got good pictures, and even when the flash bounced off of something closer to us (like someones shoulder or whatever), we could still see the actual subject in the background (just need to do some cropping). The camera is nice and light, and really easy to use. I wish I had more time to play with it. But I think we'll end up getting one. FIL got his for $120 on sale at one point. So even not on sale, it doesn't seem to expensive.

Well considering my current camera won't really turn on and the lens won't go back into the body it's definitely a POS camera!

We have this camera and love it. I am a little blown away buy the selling price of this one, we paid I think 300.00 two years ago for ours. So this one seems a little steep. It is a point and shoot, and it allows you the options of manual control. The zoom is amazing and the pictures look great. It fits comfortably in your hand, is lightweight and the wheel dial for manual exposures is right there at your thumb.

I like it a lot, but I can't figure out how to get the type of shots that Summer gets, where the subject is in perfect focus and the background unfocused.
Other than that, it takes good photos indoors without a flash -- and that was my #1 most important thing. We have our share of blurry shots, but I think that's to be expected w/ a P&S. All our pics of Jacob on FB are from this camera, if you want to see it in action.
