Favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

I've found my favorite EF dish liquid, detergent, deodorant, even recyclable razors but I need suggestions for Shampoo and Conditioner.

I have short hair that I straighten every day so I need a mild shampoo and some sort of conditioner that will keep my hair sleek and not frizzy.

Any EF solutions?! Thanks!

Re: Favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

  • Aubrey Organics is my favorite. I don't live near a TJ's or Whole Foods, so I'm psyched my grocery store just started carrying it. Smells amazing.
  • Aveda smooth and sleek- love it!
  • I LOVE John Masters Organics. His zinc and clary sage shampoo with conditioner smells like sugar cookies, and it does wonderful things to my hair. I have thin, fine, naturally curly hair that tends to frizz, and when I use the JM stuff, I just rub a little bit of Aveda Be Curly in my wet hair and let it air dry. It looks fabulous with zero effort on my part.
  • I have to admit, Burt's Bee's moisturizing line. I have tried so many and not done well. I like the Gudonya Too conditioner, but even with my super thick, dry hair, its too heavy for anything but my ends, and even then not daily.

I would prefer to support a smaller, more EF company (Burt's Bee's is owned by Clorox) but the Burt's Bee's line is good and I understand has done a lot of good things.

  • I use Avalon Organics in the lavender scent.  I know they're not certified organic and are therefore using the word "organic" when they shouldn't be, but the products work well, are affordable, and meet my big 4 criteria for personal products:  No SLS, no parabens, no animal ingredients, and no animal testing.

  • I have used GudonyaToo, Burt's Bees, and Kiss My Face.  Kiss My Face is my favorite conditioner and GudonyaToo's Salty Dawg Shampoo is my favorite shampoo.  I did recently switch over completely to GudonyaToo for both Shampoo and Conditioner and I've been very happy.  The conditioner is a bit heavy but I use such a small amount and rinse right away that I don't notice and it's great because I feel like one bottle lasts me forever and works really well!
  • i like giovanni organics (not really organic, but no protein in the one i use) and aubrey organics (the ones with no protein) for conditioners. my hair hates protein.

i make my own shampoo with ayurvedic powders.

  • It's not "organic" and it's a bigger company, but I use Loreal's sulfate free line--The "Ever Strong, or Ever Pure" lines. They aren't tested on animals and are vegan friendly. Plus you can get it in the grocery store, it smells great and works well. It's actually a great all natural line...and in a way I like supporting this type of product...it might sound sort of backward, but maybe it helps it go more mainstream. :::Shrugs::;
  • After trying loads of EF shampoos, paying loads and being disappointed, I gave up and tried no-poo. It has an adjustment period of 1-2 wks, but is worth trying. It has been a year and a half now and I woudn't go back to regular or EF shampoo if you bought and delivered a years supply to my bathroom. Cheap, very EF and easy once you get the hang of it.

  • After trying just about everything, I've recently fallen in love with the Jason shampoos and conditioners - especially the Sea Kelp. They smell amazing, too!

  • I really like Chargrin Valley soaps.  Both their shampoo soaps and also body soap.

  • Anything Aveda, but I love the dry remedy for my hair

Yay for no-poo!  I'm no-poo as well.  It's been wonderful.  I bought some Burt's Bees for a trip recently, and I was so happy to get home to my BS and ACV!  It takes some adjusting, but it's so worth it!

  • I love Trader Joe's nourish spa shampoo and conditioner. It's awesome. I also love their shaving cream. I never, ever get razor burn and I used to ALWAYS get it. I will never buy another shaving cream again! They have honey mango and unscented.
