Is cooked red meat bad for dogs?
I had never heard that before, but someone on the What's Cooking board just told me that I shouldn't give my dogs cooked red meat. I googled it, but I didn't find anything too definite, just a few sites that said it's find in moderation. Does anyone know?

Re: Is cooked red meat bad for dogs?
Why did they say it was bad for them?
if a dog isn't used to a certain kind of food then it can cause an upset tummy, but no cooked red meat is not bad for a normal healthy dog

Cooked BONES are always a no-no, since they can splinter, but meat is just fine.
Cooked ground beef, for example, is often given in combo with (cooked) white rice as a bland diet when a dog has intestinal issues. My pup ate ground beef/rice for about a month last year during such an episode.

Um, dog food is made of cooked meat. I don't understand why any vet would recommend not feeding a dog meat.
It's a general consensus to not feed a dog table scraps, but that's because it can turn in to a bad begging habit, not because the food is necessarily bad for them. There's a difference between 'people food' and 'table scraps'. My dogs ONLY eat people food. They don't eat a single thing that's not human grade food. They eat chicken and steak and fish as their primary diet, almost never kibble.
She didn't really give a reason. She said her vet told her it was bad for them and she equated it with onions, grapes, and chocolate. Here's the tread: http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/43212164.aspx
My dogs eat steak all the time, and they also eat a red meat version of kibble. Cooked red meat is not a problem.
However, I would not feed my dogs something in a marinade. Likely there is something in the marinade that isn't good for them and even if there isn't that's too much spice for most dogs.

Ditto this -- I wouldn't feed marinated meat. But the red meat itself is totally fine. I don't know what she's talking about.
