IUD ?

So DH and I have been discussing and we are still both up in the air about having a third, well he wants one no questions asked, hands down, I am up in the air, I love my two boys to pieces but three seems like so much work, I am finally work again from home making some cashola and have an interview on Thursday for a job out of the home, so both DH and I hate the feel of condoms and I cannot enjoy it at all, he just prefers to not have one on, but for the time being if he wants a bit of action he needs to wrap it up.  Anyway, if you have an IUD or have had one what made you decide to go this way and was it painful, complications any information would be helpful, I do not want to go back on the pill as it makes me hormonal and I am working hard at getting hte baby chubs off so I do not want to gain weight again.  I have researched that it is easy enough if we do decide to TTC again that I can have it removed and wait a couple cycles then try again.  TIA and any information would be awesome.

Sorry I do not post much busy busy at this home front.

Re: IUD ?

  • Hey - I have the Mirena and have had no issues/complications.  Was relatively painless to have put in - menstrual-like cramping for a day or so, and haven't really had any breakthrough spotting (or periods!) since.

    Good luck with your decision!

  • Same as above poster. My OB highly recommended the Mirena. He said that the side effects were quite low and other than spotting at the beginning, you may eventually have a very light or no period! I had mine put in when DS was 8 weeks old. It was no worse than having a Pap smear done.
  • I am with the others!  I liked it.  I got moody about once a month on it but hardly had periods.  I had no issues on it.  My only complaint was that it was a bit disconcerting NOT having a period I peed on a stick lots because of it.
