Family Recipe book ideas??? recs?

Im working on a family recipe book to give out during our gtg next mth and need some ideas on how to put it  together.  My first thought was to just print on cardstock, cut with pretty scissors, make a hole tie with ribbon.  But, i'd like some other ideas, too.

I'd stop by Kinko's and see what they could offer.  (Crafting and I are not friends.)  I know, too, if you google there are plenty of companies out there that offer a software & printing thing.

I'd rather it be useful then pretty.  Ribbons and fancy cut cardstock don't scream useful.  If you want it pretty too maybe scan the pretty recipes and put them into a flip book from shutterfly/snapfish/whatever.

If you want a family cookbook, you want something that will last for a very long time, perhaps be passed down.  If this isn't your thing, I'd skip the book and make a packet of recipe cards that could be filed.  Ditto pp about having something useful over something pretty.

You could use a site like picaboo.com or smilebooks.com and make it online with pictures. It would look pretty cool and professional but would cost a little more maybe too...probably $20 a book.

I would definitely get it professionall bound & printed.  I';m sure you can find tons of discount codes online.  If you want people to use them, they will fall apart if you use cardstock and ribbon.

I think you could do this on Shutterfly.  I've gotten books from them before and was really happy with the quality.  And if you signup for emails you'll get coupons, etc.
