T&P redux

I wrote a few weeks back about my friend Danie's baby who was in the hospital with seizures. Well, they've tried a number of medications and the seizures are still happening multiple times a day. She's been in and out of the hospital for the past 6 weeks (she is now 13 weeks old) and they are no closer to getting any answers. Yesterday they had to sedate her for 4 hours for an intensive EEG. The most recent "diagnosis" (in quotes, because it keeps changing) is Infantile Spasms, which is basically the worst kind of seizure disorder a baby can have; however it's not responding to the usual treatments for that disease. Continued thoughts and prayers are really appreciated.

Re: T&P redux

  • T's and P's going their way. ?How horrible.

My little cousin has been dealing with seizures his whole life. ?He's 10 and a half now and leads a very normal life at this point but still doesn't make it any easier. ??

  • Poor little thing.  Thanks for the update, and continued T's and P's.
  • Sending lots and lots more T&Ps!! She's a beautiful baby, absolutely precious!
  • It makes my heart ache to see her in the hospital bed.  I will continue to keep her in my prayers- she is a beautiful little girl!

  • I hate to say it, but it sounds a lot like how the seizures started for my cousin's son.  I'm sure that they're checking all contingencies but have they checked her for mitochondrial disorders?  After my cousin's son was diagnosed, I learned a lot more about them and they are startlingly common but you rarely hear about them.

T&P to your friends fam.  That is so tough.  Do they have a caringbridge site or anything like that?

  • Poor thing.... Sad  Continued T&P!
