I have a co-worker who is a lot older than me and who seems to feel very threatened by me. When I was hired, it was to take on a lot of the work that she and the other director felt they didn't have time to do (project management, grant writing, communications, etc) and I think this bothers her because she feels like I've taken her place in some ways. Because of this, I swear she goes out her way to contradict everything I say. Except half of the time she doesn't even know what the hell she's talking about. I feel like I spent most of my day repeating to myself "It's not about you, it's about her" over and over again just so I don't lose it.
Sorry just needed to get that off my chest and out of my head : )
Re: Vent
I can sympathize with you. I was hired to replace a gentleman who was going to retire soon. So there was a few months of overlap where we were both working the projects. They hired me because they wanted someone with an HR background to do the job that he literally had been refusing to do for years (why they let this go one is beyond me). He had a hard time accepting me at first and was always disagreeing with my thoughts or ideas on where to take the project.
Yesterday was his last day and he didn't even say good bye to me! ha
