moving company recommendations?

Hey ladies! My husband & I are moving to Durham from the DC area, and we're super excited!

We want to hire a moving company to get us down there, but I'm not really sure where to start looking for a good one. Did any of you use a moving company before and have a great experience? Or are there companies we should stay away from?

We used a company called Prestige Movers out of Chapel Hill, NC for a local move in the spring and they did a good job. That is my first and only experience with professional movers. I am not sure if they do out of state moves or not but I do recommend them! GL!

I wanted to add, the reason why we chose them was because they guaranteed a maximum estimate for us. Everyone else we talked to just charged $100-150/hour for however long it took. Prestige estimated it would take a certain number of hours, but if they went over that estimate they could only charge us a max of 10% more than that. So I felt they'd be more motivated to complete the move on time than someone with no max. And they completed it for under the max estimate.

Just something to think about!

We used Budd Van Lines for our move from New Jersey to Raleigh.  It was an amazing experience.  They packed us, moved us and did a partial unpack.  They were very courteous and nothing was broken... at all!  I have no clue how competitive their pricing is since we used a relocation package through my company.  But if they are reasonably priced, I'd highly recommend them!
