Re: Alaskan Ali
I know transport is possible. But Tyler and I don't feel comfortable adopting a dog without spending time with it first to really be sure the dog would be a good fit for us. That means that Tyler and I would have to fly (we're in Juneau and there are no roads out, which means you have to fly or boat in or out) 2.5 hours to Anchorage or 3.5 hours to Fairbanks. That means we would be under pressure to find a dog in the time frame we're there or else risking wasting our time off work and the money spent on plane tickets, a hotel, and a rental car for nothing. And I don't want to feel pressured when picking out a dog that we'll have with us for hopefully 15 years. It would also mean that the dog would need to get a health cert within 24 hours before flying, so we'd have to find a vet that could see us in that time frame, and if the dog turned out to have anything so much as ear mites we couldn't get a health cert. Which means we'd have to leave the dog with someone who could take care of the dog and give the medication until the dog is healthy, then take the dog to the vet for us to get the health cert, then put the dog on the plane for us.
It's just too complicated. We'd really prefer to get a dog locally. Thank you for offering though. I know you'd pick us a good pup
