How much do you or someone you know pay for daycare?

We're at 32 a day for full time home day care.

I work for the province with daycares and day homes...here are the costs I see on average:

Daycares (for full time):

Infants $595-$800, toddlers $395-$550, pre-school $350-$480, kindergarten/school age $250-$400.

Day homes runs about the same...but they seem to charge a premium for infants. I have one provider who charges $900/mnth for a child under 18 mos.

Depends on the age. When our son was under 18 months we paid $55/day. 18 months - 3 years cuts down to about $40/day, I think. Over three years old is less again, I think about $700 a month

ETA: it'll depend on the cost of living in your area too.

We paid $30 for a full day and $20 for a half day at a home daycare.

For DD (16 months old) we pay $790/month fot FT care

For DS who is in Kindergarten for half days, we pay $600/month.

Andrew was attending a day home part-time this summer, and I paid $40/day (so full-time would be about $800/month). The few daycare centres I contacted were in the $1,000-$1,200/month range and had really long waiting lists.

I definitely think where you live affects how much you pay.

I live in Ontario (Waterloo) and I pay 35/day for a home daycare.  The range I  found for home daycares here was $30-$40/day.  For a daycare centre, for an infant, the range in KW is anywhere from $1100-1500/month.  That cost drops once they are 18 months.

I pay $45/day for in home day care (with organic food) where the DCP is ECE. I pay for all stat holidays but do not pay when she is on vacation (typically 3 weeks a year).

My sister pays $25/day for in home day care where the DCP is not ECE.
