gilmoregirl - or anyone who did table squares
did you do table squares (sort of like runners) under your centerpieces....or am i thinking of someone else? Do you by chance have a picture of them? I'm trying to make them this weekend for 72in round tables. thanks!!
Re: gilmoregirl - or anyone who did table squares
Hi Hi!!
I made table runners, not squares. There are probably some pictures of them in the background shots from the reception in my married bio below, but I'm not sure they are what you are looking for.
Have you though of just getting really pretty cloth napkins to use under the centerpieces?? Or were you thinking larger than that??
hmmm...i was considering runners, but i thought they would be difficult to make. Tables are 72in round, so the runner would need to be so long. I figured squares would be easier. I bought a bunch of fabric already - so i'm sort of committed to making them now (though napkins would have been a good idea!!)
how large were your tables? were the runners difficult to make?
thanks
We had some 60 inch rounds and some 72 inch rounds. I can't comment on the actual making of them, because a family friend did them, but I can tell you how she did them.
Ours only hung about six inches over the ends of the tables, so for the 60'' tables, we made 72'' runners, etc., they were 12 inches wide each. We bought fairly wide opaque fabric so we didnt need to line them. and then we made three runners out of one width of fabric. Our fabric was silk, so thread wasn't catching when she went to sew them, so she ended up using the iron-on hem stuff (I have no idea what it's called).
Hope this helps a little!
This helps a LOT! Thanks!!
On the 72in rounds, did the 12in runner look wide enough?
To me it did, I just wanted a little touch of color on the tables. Honestly, the tables (or mine at least) are so crowded with stuff that if you make it too wide the interfere with glasses and plates and favors and such. I found a few pics (not great but eh..)...lets see if this works:
This one shows you how far they hung over the edge:
These were extra, so they put them on the cake table (obviously too long) but it's another shot of them:
I can't see the pics, but i'll try at home tonight.
thanks for all of your help!
