I am a NY girl born and raised, and so when the fall comes around I am ALWAYS missing apple-picking.
Last year I was so desperate to go that I looked up some pick-your-own places, but by late Sept. most of them were no longer harvesting apples. We wound up going to the Avila Valley Barn in San Luis Obispo. It was an awesome place! We rode a hay ride, went pumpkin picking, went apple picking (they said the apple picking was technically over, but we were able to get about 20 good apples from the trees), enjoyed some delicious apple cider and roasted corn on the cob. It was such a beautiful, fun day.
So DH and I are planning on taking DD and going again next weekend (the 4th). I'm so excited!!
If any of you are looking for a place like that to go to, and don't mind the drive, I HIGHLY suggest Avila Valley Barn!!
Re: Yay! Going apple picking next weekend!!
OMG! How fun! I've only gone apple picking once, inland in Apple Valley. I remember that the farm we went to had theeee best apple butter I had ever tasted. Nothing compared since, nothing store bought that is. LOL!
Thanks for the info! I will definitely share it with DH and ILs. That's something I have an incling that they's love to do. What a great SoCal tradition to start for our family.
Hope you are well and that your DD had a wonderful birthday!
