pant alterations...

Hi ladies!

Where do you get pants altered?  I would say Nordstrom, but I didn't get these pants there.  Do you go to you local cleaners, or is there some other place to go?  FWIW-I am in the Clackamas area-ish!

Can you believe I have never altered pants?  I feel so dumb asking this question, but I have no idea how to find someone for this!

Are you just getting them hemmed at the bottom, or more in-depth alterations?

For a basic hem, I take pants to my dry cleaner... I go to Oak Street Dry Cleaning next to the Albertson's off Highway 224 in Milwaukie, do you know where that is?  They do a great job.

For in-depth alterations, you have 2 choices.  I take mine to Nordy's for all alterations.  My DH takes his suits to an alterations store in Clackamas Mall.  It's downstairs, next to the indoor playground, kind of by Sears.  He swears by them, it's way cheaper than Nordy's, etc.  Its kind of "ghetto" and not the cleanest place, but he's always been happy there.

Just hemmed, but I want the original bottoms back on.  One of my co workers gets her pants hemmed, but it's always just tucked under, which I am not a big fan of.

Ah, if you want the original hem, I would take your pants to Nordys.  Even though you didn't buy them there, they will do it for you.  Should be about $20.

Make sure you wash and dry them first!

You can take them to Nordstrom even if you didn't buy them there.  There's also a place in Lloyd Center...I can't think of what it's called but it's an alterations place and they do a great job.  They will replace with the original hem for a slightly higher fee.

DH has his alterations done at Thu Fashion (NE 42nd).  She does great work, but does get pretty busy.

DZ Alterations on SW Morrison. I literally just took pants there today at lunch. The women who owns the shop used to work for Nordstrom alterations, and her sister still does, so they do a great job. $10 for original hem alterations! Can't beat that (and I used to take all my jeans to Nordstom, even if I didn't buy them there, but at $22...that's pretty pricey!)
