How early is too early . . . rop

to ask your neighbors to turn their %$#@! music down?

Does it have to be after a certain hour?  Or if it is outrageously loud (as in making it impossible to sit and read) can I ask at any time without seeming like the unreasonable neighbor?  And should I "wait" a certain amount of time before complaining?

I thought I'd escaped the noise issues by moving away from the awful neighbors, but apparently EVERYONE in this country listens to crappy techno at earsplitting volume.

I am SO OVER THIS right now.  I want to go home.

Re: How early is too early . . . rop

  • If it's loud enough, I don't think it matters what time it is. It's one thing if they are hammering their IKEA together or practicing their cello, which are things they probably need to do? but no one needs to listen to ear-splitting techno.
  • I am super chill on almost every other noise.  The neighbors on the other side have kids and they're always running up and down the stairs . . . doesn't bother me one bit.  We also live across from a park which gets pretty noisy at times and still, I'm fine.

I swear loud thumping bass is some sort of trigger for me.  It instantly enrages me beyond belief.  Other kinds of music . . . I'm good.  Why does no one blast Bach?  LOL.

  • This post isn't making my move decision any easier!  I HATE hearing neighbors and that was the first thing we said when we started looking at housing there.  One of the reasons I picked Haarlem is it *seems* quite.

Bless your heart!!!!  I guess rudeness has no boundaries

  • 1. WTF?!?! How do you always land the crap neighbors?!?!?

    2. You need to move now. You can live on my street. Nazi lady, balloon lady, and mannequin lady's houses are now all for sale. Take you pick. I think you should go for mannequin lady- so we are on opposite ends. Makes pirate battles in the pond more exciting.

    Oh hell no!!!!

Balloon lady is half of the evil duo who sent a 2 page, 8-font letter to every neighbor slandering my husband. And she is also half of the evil duo who went to another neighbor to tell her they hated her patio tiles and to get rid of them NOW, or they will do it for her, and while she is at it get a new couch because it's ugly. (patio tiles that are exactly the same as 6 other houses by the way. they co'oped to get a bulk rate so why are they ugly just at her house?). Oh, and told me I was a bad wife. With examples for "proof." And another neighbor was told she was a horrible mother, again with examples.

But, sadly, she has her house overpriced as well and will probably be here forever. Sigh.

    Indifferent  OMG. What a nutcase!

I'd love to hear her examples!

  • For me....I don't deal with my husband properly:

I let him pick out his own clothes, I don't know where he is at all points during the day/night, I don't plan his schedule for him, I don't decide all his meals for him, I don't approve everything he does before he finishes it, I let him have his own opinion. Everything he does is a reflection on me and how well I trained him, so by not doing these things I have embarrassed my family.

I know. What a terrible wife I am. Confused

The bad mom examples I don't know off hand, but I am sure they are similar. I do know part of them was the boy was excessively noisy. It was in relation to one incident where he and his 3 or 4 friends were jumping on the communal trampoline and laughing rather loudly. It was a hot day so everyone's windows were open and if you didn't have a tv/radio/friend talking kind of background noise you could actually hear him laughing. OMG no!!! Oh, and he left his bike outside the carport area and *shock horror* on the patio area next to the carport on more than one occasion. And we all know that a kid's bike strewn randomly over your property brings shame to us all......
