Gift Ideas?

Okay, I need help please.  My SIL is having a double mastectomy tomorrow, and will be in the hospital for 2 days.  They live in Texas, and H and I live in Pennsylvania.  I want to have something sent to her for when she arrives home from the hospital to let her know she's in our thoughts and prayers, but I don't want anything serious.  What recommendations do you guys have?  I need something fun, but I would prefer something useful as well, since they have 4 small kids.  Thanks!

Re: Gift Ideas?

  • I'm sorry to hear about your SIL.  I'd send food- a fruit basket, a tower of goodies, someplace to deliver dinner, etc.
  • What about a Fruit Bouquet? Cute and kids really like to eat fruit off the arrangements. Google it for pics and vendors.

I've also sent the gift of cleaning from a local cleaning company before.  I paid for 5 hours of cleaning while my friend recuperated from her surgery.  They did whatever she asked for: laundry, bathrooms, mopping, dishes.  I gave her the gift certificate and all she had to do was call and pick a day.   She said not having to worry that the kids wouldn't have clean underwear was priceless!!  It might be too practical of a gift but it was appreciated.
