most of you know that i work at a college. well, a friend/coworker's daughter who is a student here submitted her photo to playboy for the hottest college girl contest and is in the running (and winning) to win a party on campus hosted by playboy. my friend wasn't sure how the college would react and was meeting with our communications/marketing office today. note that this is not a naked picture... friend's daughter is in a bikini.
what are your thoughts? is this in good taste and the college should support it/welcome the publicity? or should the college deny the party even if she wins?
if anyone's interested in the link, send me an email or PM. i don't mind sharing with you but don't want to put it on here since it's pretty easy to figure out which college i'm talking about.
Re: HTT: college and playboy
I dislike the idea of the college turning down the party, because I'm all about free speech and Playboy is protected, and the girl is over 18, presumably and can do what she likes, and shouldn't lose her winnings because of prudes.
BUT I think parents of prospective students might have a negative opinion of the school for it. Since a college is a business, it's something for them to consider.

I don't know. I think I'm ok with it. I went to a very conservative Christian college. We weren't even allowed to wear bikinis on campus, so it absolutely wouldn't fly there. For a regular school, maybe it would be ok. But that isn't the kind of image I would want to promote if I were part of a university's leadership.
