Parking/Dining at Hollywood Bowl

My husband and I are going to the Jack Johnson concert tomorrow night at the Hollywood Bowl at 7pm. We know parking is awful and won't be home from work until about 5:30pm so getting to the Bowl by 6:30pm; any suggestions as to best place to park? Is it best to take one of the shuttles from the Ventura or Hollywood & Highland lots?

Also, we are past the deadline to order food (picnic baskets) to pick up when we arrive ... is the food there super pricey? Do you suggest bringing our own food or eating in advance? We are on bench seats.

 THANK YOU!

Re: Parking/Dining at Hollywood Bowl

  • Honestly, it isn't glamorous at all IMO to eat at the hollywood bowl before the show.  Everyone is so crammed in the picnic areas, and no one ever wants to share tablespace, etc.

The one time that we did take food we just took Corner Bakery with us.

I will say though that I LOVE going to the Hollywood Bowl!  Have fun!

  • We usually park at Hollywood and Highland and hoof it. It's really not that far to walk. As far as food- it is rediculously overpriced. Bring a small basket/ ice chest, and bring some yummy things that are easy to eat (no forks, etc required) to munch on- both before and during (well, we often go for Philharmonic events and everyone is sitting the whole time). Bring some wine and plastic cups (you don't want to worry about anything breaking) and bottled water.?

  • I would double check to make sure the shuttles still run from the LA zoo. I've taken the shuttle from the zoo and it worked out well. We also took our own food to eat inside, because eating outside isn't fun if you can't be there early to stake out a table. We just took some small finger foods, chips and dip, and beer.
