Andriod Apps-recommend please!

I am getting ready to get a andriod phone and Sat and am completely new to them. Can you all recommend some free apps that you love? I know I've read before someone mention an app that helps close others that aren't in use and helps keep it from getting slower.. anyone know which one this is? Thanks!

Re: Andriod Apps-recommend please!

  • I'm paranoid about virus', so I'd say Look Out which will scan your phone for problems.... I'm newer to smartphone's and really haven't installed many apps, so I'll be interested in the answers you get too!

  • I think you're talking about Advanced Task Killer.

    Some of my favorites:

Gesture Search - allows you to search your contact list by drawing the first couple letters of the name

Alchemy - brilliant little addictive game

Smart Grocery - I'm sure there is more than one app like this, but just something that helps me remember what I need to buy at the grocery store is great. And I always have my phone on me, so it's not like a paper list that I never seemed to remember to bring with me. Sometimes it's the simple stuff. ; )

Astronomy Picture of the Day - Downloads the latest APOD pic and makes it your wallpaper. I enjoy waking up in the morning and seeing a new pretty picture - lots of Hubble pics of space, pics of stuff like northern lights, weather phenom., etc.

Google Sky Map - Just really cool.

  • Abduction - fun free little game

If you have DirecTV, I like their app to record our shows.

    Dolphin HD browser

    DroidLight

OI Notepad b/c I'm constantly making lists

Where's my droid is kind of cool if you ever lose your phone and keep it on vibrate

    Happiest place on Earth!

  • I recommend Profile and it's whitelist addon, it lets you create settings profiles for things like work, sleep, etc. and you can schedule them to switch automatically.  I never have my phone ring when it shouldn't anymore.
  • Pandora for music is awesome for free =)

    MPZ born June 25, 2011
TTC #2: Picking up where we left off...
    Cycle 1-3: Gonal-F + Pregnyl + B2B IUI = BFN
On a break before starting IVF...
  • i second OI shopping list, i use it easily every day. also, I highly recommend SMS Backup. saves all your texts and sends to your gmail account.

GDocs is a must, my husband and i will make lists to share and easily access. Flixter is the BEST movie theatre app!

enjoy your new android phone! I am pecking this out on my new g2. :)
