Have you started shopping / crafting / baking...
for Christmas presents yet?
Re: Have you started shopping / crafting / baking...
I haven't yet, but I think I'm going to start Christmas shopping very soon. I like to shop little by little and watch for sales at local stores and then plan a big trip over to a bigger mall on a weekend.
I love baking for the holidays, so I can't wait to start doing that, especially now that I have a new KitchenAid mixer, that will make my life easier!
I ordered my first Christmas present in August.
I'm currently trying out homemade lip glosses for my little nieces.
And I've finished piecing the front of my Christmas tree skirt. I bought a piece of fabric only 2 short years ago for it. It's waiting to be quilted and bound.
One of the families I ship gifts to also has birthdays in February and March. I've already got those birthday presents and will ship them with the Christmas gifts.
Apparently, I'm an overachiever this year.
I might do some jam this year, but I'll wait until it's a little colder outside before I start that.
Don?t worry I am sure you are not alone. Last year I started crazy early but this year I had a wedding to plan and pay for so I was a bit late.
Yes This week I started to think about what to get people and I decided that for my parents that I would make them quilts, one that says mom and the other dad. I started making them last night. (OMG cutting fabric is a pain not matter what awesome tool they come out with to make it easier)
As far as decorations I bought a few things from Michaels a week or so ago but most likely won?t start work on that until after Halloween.
My Husband and I found these great wooden signs at our local county fair that say "Our Grandkids" in a double heart then smaller hearts that hand below with each of the grandchildren's names on them. Each set of parents got one with the appropriate number of kids names.
We found the kids camera's that our youngest 2 have been asking for at BJ's for $12 cheaper than at target or Walmart, so I picked those up last week, and also found something else for our youngest.
I also got the material to make tie blankets for our youngest son and our 2 nieces and I actually finished one last week.:)
I have a list going on my computer so no one can sneak a peak at it. I'm just waiting for some things to go onsale or to get a coupon for it before I buy it. I'll also go shopping on Black Friday so I'll probably get the majority of my list taken care of that day.

Yes, but I hope to speed it up this coming week. We will have a lot going on soon and I wont have time.
So far I have bought all gifts for our nephew, my brother, one friend.
I am having research done by the Natl Archives of my grandfather, it should only be a few more weeks to get documents of his service in WWII- for my Dad's gift. Then I will put it all together in a scrapbook with some photos. There's another part to this gift, but It wont come in the mail til March or April
I have made a crayon roll as a practice, now I need to make 3 with the fabric for each child.
I have been slowly making canned items for food gift baskets (bought peach baskets at the end of the season for only 50 cents!
I still have a long to do and shop for list!
I started buying some gifts in June- I figure one a month and that should help me spread out the expense.
So far I have gifts for Sis & BIL, BFF, Godson. I still need Mom & Dad but I'm waiting for a sale on a specific item or two, and I don't think DH and I will exchange gifts this year. Then a few other small assorted gifts and we're done!
I canned some apple butter already. I will bake some bread when it gets closer and give each of our neighbors some homemade bread and apple butter!
But other than that I haven't done much. I really need to get to it. I normally plan way in advance for holiday gifts!!
