help - girls day in the city -where to go?
I've lived in the western burbs, though I'm not that familiar with the city I always go to the same places with DH. Boring!
Sunday Oct 17 I'm taking a friend to the city for a girls day. I hope to walk around & shop, maybe get a pedicure, eat lunch. I am pg so I can't do too much in one day.
I will either drive or take the Metra into Union & take cabs/EL from there. Which do you recommend, since I'm not wanting to walk 10 miles in one day.
Can you PLEASE tell me what areas (streets) to go to & show her a fun day out? Where to get an affordable pedi in a cute salon? Where to eat lunch? Cute, affordable shopping?
Re: help - girls day in the city -where to go?
Pure Rain nail salon on Dearborn near Congress is very nice. It is BYOB too (for your non PG friends).
Of course there is Michigan Ave shopping, Millenium park is nice (maybe there is an event??), have brunch/lunch in River North (Orange, Yolk, Meli Cafe) or High Tea the Pennisula hotel (not cheap though). If the weather is nice a walk around the Lake is good, just go for a short stroll. There is a place on Michigan ave called Eno that has chocolate, cheese and wine.
Are you wanting to stay downtown? I really don't like downtown on the weekends.
If you drive, I'd say go to Old Town. I like Magnifique Nail Salon on North & Wells. It's only $28 for mani/pedi. There is a few cute Italian places on North Ave & on Wells. Topo Gigio on Wells, Dinotto on North.
I also like Armitage & Halsted area, lots of shopping, eating, and nail places all up & down Armitage.
