What is your favorite DIY craft/decoration/costume you've made in the years passed? How much time did it take to make? What kind of materials did you need? Pictures?
I'm doing a lot of DIY decor for our Halloween party this year. I love going to the Halloween stores to get ideas, but most everything I make at home.

Re: DIY Halloween Poll
What kind of DIY stuff are you doing? I've never really made any costumes or decorations before & want to decorate for Halloween too but we just moved into our house a few months ago from an apartment so I really haven't had much to work with.
Mine isn't really a craft, but I made some really cute and tasty "finger" cookies for Halloween two years ago. They were a long, thin cookie with almond slivers as fingernails. Red decorating gel went under the almond sliver to look like blood. Then you take a tooth pick and make lines as "knuckles." I got the recipe from a Betty Crocker baking book.
these aren't the exact cookies, but VERY similar.
Well, we have an entire DIY graveyard with tombstones made from plywood and yard stakes.
Then every year we also have a big guy that we dress up and use to scare people. We make him with two by fours cut up and nailed together, then clothed and stuffed. I got a styrofoam mannequin head from Party City (they sold me one for like $5 when I bought mask) that we use for his head. He's been a creepy clown and a murderer.
This year we'll be making a spider-webbed mummy with garbage bags, stuffing, and cobwebs. We'll probably also make a big grim reaper out of the 'creepy clown' wood, using a big black sheet, some skeleton hands, and a scythe we have. Very exciting stuff.
hotrod thanks for the ideas...
i did a lot of the bats around the house last year and i also made seat covers. they did not take very long. good luck with you DIY
