Can you really check if someone's reading your email?
A friend of mine who's going through some tough times at work thinks his boss is keeping an eye on him. Not only that, he thinks that he's checking his email account and how many times a day he loggs on. Someone told me that there's a way to check if someone is logging in with your name and pass word and can tell that how many times that email account has been looked on a day. Is this really true? How would you be able to do this?
Re: Can you really check if someone's reading your email?
Has he changed his PW? I wouldn't check my email at work anymore. Also, DH says that if the guy is checking his email at work, the boss has the right to monitor it.
Long story short, your friend needs to stop checking his email at work.

You cannot go into your email account to see how many times someone else is looking at it.
If your friend is logged into a work computer, the company has the right to watch which websites you go to. If your friend is checking his/her email at work, the boss is probably just seeing that your friend is visiting the email website X times a day.
Any good IT department can monitor anything that you do on a work computer (and the company has every right to monitor how you utilize work equipment.. they can even read your WORK email if they want). They can tell how much time you spend on the internet, which sites you visit etc.
So, the basic answer is yes, if he's using a work computer the IT department can easily monitor his activity. If he's checking a personal email account from work, the company can't look at his email account but they can definitely see how many times he's going to the website.
