Unexpected Surprise!

Yesterday I got a bonus at work completely unexpectedly! It is for a project I worked on for all of 2009 and finished in Feb 2010. DH and I have been really working hard on our budget and putting money in the right spots and reducing costs where possible. So I kinda feel like the money gods gave us a prize for the changes we've recently made!

Are you ready for this completely not exciting answer? I think we are going to use it to get Rudy's anal glands removed. We have both wanted him to have this surgery, but were struggling to figure out a way to pay for it. The remainder is going to DH's law school loans. Party!!!

Does she release them a lot or something? We have a golden too and we don't ever notice anything.

Yes! He doesn't release them when he does his business, so it builds up until they are completely fulls and then releases when he is relaxed (laying on the couch, snuggling in the bed, etc.). We have tried a bunch of different diets and even benedryl in case an allergy is causing the overproduction of the oil. Nothing has worked so far, so surgery seems to be the only option. This is not typical in Goldens at all. Usually it happens with smaller dogs. I guess we were lucky enough to get the exception! We keep telling Rudy it is a good thing he is cute!
