POLL: Queens GTG

Hope you ladies all had a lovely weekend!

In the thread below we mentioned a couple places in Queens that could be good for a GTG. Let us know which is preferred/easiest for you so we can begin planning. :)

- Forest Hills
- Woodside
- Other (comment below)

Any other suggestions for activity - brunch, cocktails, etc. - are welcome!

Re: POLL: Queens GTG

  • If I can interject here.  Perhaps it would make a difference where to go if we had some ideas of what restaurant or location people wanted to go.  Maybe a brainstorm of locations in each neighborhood and then come up with preference that way.  Because I really don't have a preference on neighborhood.

Forest Hills, Sunnyside/Woodside, Astoria, LIC would be my top choices.

  • Astoria-- Studio Square (beer garden)

    Forest Hills-- Bonfire Grill (bar/restaurant)

LIC-- Sweetleaf or Cranky's (coffee shop)

LIC-- Bella Via (brick oven pizza)

    Woodside-- Donovan's Pub (burgers/pub)

Sunnyside-- New York Style Eats (diner)

I have no clue why I am picking some of these but just thought of places that weren't expensive, where there was a range of items for people to eat, and might be ok for a group.

  • I don't have a preference, my only request is that it be somewhere with relatively decent parking. :-)  And I can drive my fellow Baysidians (lol), and you, Karllen :-)

  • I'm kind of liking Forest Hills, because there's the train and parking in the munimeter that I usually can find. It's a little harder parking in Woodside and Sunnyside, and I can enjoy time out of my working neighborhood. Teachers, you know what I mean. There's nothing like being out and having a kid come tell you mommy wants to know how he's doing in school.

  • 315bride - sorry, I haven't planned a GTG before. :)

It seems like Forest Hills is good for most everyone. Some meeting suggestions - Bonfire Grill, Five Burros (Mexican), Portofino (Italian)... anything else I'm missing?

Also - anyone have weekend preferences?

  • I don't have a preference for location as long as I can get there by bus/subway/walking from Brooklyn :)

As for weekend availability, anything but Halloween weekend works for me :)

  • I looooove Five Burros.  But there is usually a massive wait, and that's when i go with just me and DH.  Anyone know what it's like to wait with a big group?  I don't think they take reservations right?

  • Five Burros is always a zoo. Garcia's could better accommodate a group if people are itching for Mexican.

Ha. Not like I would know any better. I've only planned one.
  • Or, if you want a burgers, sandwiches, wings, and beer kind of place...The Tap House, seems decent for a casual hang out/food place.  I thought of it because of you, 315bride...I know you like a good beer :)  I was watching football there with my husband last night, and I saw a few large groups come in and out to eat.  I've never been to Garcia's, but I've heard it's pretty good.

I agree that it's a great place for watching a game, but sometimes can be a bit too loud/rowdy for conversation.
