I'm having a bowling & pizza party for DS and how things typically work by me is that one parent comes basically just to bring the child and they generally don't expect to eat real food. DH and I want to provide "adult" food and want both parents to attend if they can. I think it would be a great way for us to all have some social time together since it's hard to do during the school week. Plus some parents are new to the school and it would be a nice social thing.
So I want to word the invite in such a way that lets them know there will be food for all, both are invited and if they want a drink, there will be a cash bar. I'm thinking I should leave out the cash bar thing all together and let them figure it out on their own when they arrive.
Help me with the wording somehow, please. Thanks.
Re: 5th birthday party invite wording question.
I would do something like this:
DS is turning 5!
Join us in celebrating at Super Cool Bowling Alley for some pizza and bowling for the kids, and some entertainment for the parents, too!
Date time, RSVP info, etc.
I wouldn't mention the cash bar, either.
I wouldn't mention the cash bar; it's not a wedding and it's a little inappropriate for a 5 y.o. birthday invitation.
The above information is great that pp mentioned. Actually, I don't think you really need to include that it's for the parents...just address the invitation to the parents and the child; that alone should get the point across. You can let them know about the bar, etc. when they call to rsvp.
