Coconut Oil as skin moisturizer?

just wondering if anyone uses coconut oil as a body/face moisturizer. if so, does it absorb quickly?  can you get dressed soon after applying it? what brand or kind do you use. Im very interested in giving it a try if possible.

Thanks, Michelle

Re: Coconut Oil as skin moisturizer?

  • I know there are quite a few of us that use coconut oil in the oil cleansing method (http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/)

I use it to moisturize a little, but usually I either use Alba's Kukui Nut body oil because I looove the smell, and its already liquid (where I live coconut oil is hard as a rock all but a month or two of the year) or Alba very emollient lotion.

It doesn't absorb right away, but more than anything its just a pain for me to rub a rock of coconut oil all over, most of the time. I do use it as a body moisturizer sometimes.

I use it for cooking breakfast yams though. Sooo yummy!

  • I used it all summer and spring. But, like Alisha I live in an area where it's rock solid 8 months out of the year. It doesn't absorb as good as a lotion....there is a bit of a sheen. But I didn't find it obnoxious.
