Hosting a jewelry party Friday...appetizer ideas

I am so far making baked ziti and a tossed salad (the party starts at 6 so I feel I should have a hearty option).

For drinks, plenty of soda, water and wine.

Please suggest your favorite "easy" appetizers or what is expected at this type of event.  This is my first time hosting.

TIA!

  • I've been to one recently, and am hosting one in a few weeks.  The one I went to had finger sandwiches, cookies, and wine and it was at 6pm.  I would not have wanted anything more subsantial because I was walking around looking at the jewelry which was displayed on the dining table so there really wasn't anywhere to sit and eat somehting that would require both hands.  Keep that in mind when choosing what and where to serve.

Yeah, this and I would want more "girly" food.  Yummy bites of things that can make up a meal.

I agree with this.  I think baked ziti and salad is too substantial since you need a table to eat it; that's not a perching meal.  Unless you plan on having a sit down dinner in the middle of the sales pitch...?   That'd be awkward IMO.

Mini quiches and finger sandwiches seem like the way to go to me.

  • What about bruchetta with tomatoes, basil, mozzarella cheese & some EVOO.

Also mini cupcakes! They are always a crowd pleaser!

    Photobucket
  • spinach and artichoke dip would go good with that
  • I agree that you should think a little more finger food and less sit down- chicken satay, stuffed mushrooms, proscuitto wrapped asparagus, cheese plate, fruit kabobs- things you can eat standing with minimal silverware.
  • Yum bruschetta is amazing and it seems like everyone loves it and it's easy to make. The last jewelery party I went to, the host made turkey chili, finger sandwiches, had out chips and a spinach dip, and a cupcake tower for dessert. There was also plenty of wine and water bottles.
  • I was planning a Stella and Dot party with a "dot" theme--lots of appetizer bites like mini crab cakes, mini quiches, mini cucumber sandwiches, mozzarella balls wrapped with proscuitto, a bowl of melon balls and grapes and cherry tomatoes stuffed with guacamole.  Two-bite brownies with whipped cream and a raspberry on top and mini cupcakes as dessert.

And keep lots of paper napkins around--people will be picking up and trying on jewelry and don't want to get everything sticky and greasy.

    Have fun!

  • Bruschetta or any dip and use the scoop tortilla chips or veggies
