Know what annoys me?

The fact that I called 2 places yesterday to donate my grandma's clothes and both places didnt want to take them.

Then, after I found a place who would take them and got directions and drove down to the ghetto, a different lady told me I had to take them some place else. HELLO! That is the whole reason I called. To make sure you would take them and I wasn't being sent on a wild goose chase.

Re: Know what annoys me?

  • I had the same troubles when trying to donate some of my clothes.  I contacted no less than 5 places and they either didn't want them or didn't respond.  I just ended up taking them to Goodwill.

  • Too bad you don't live here, we have 4-5 different places (purple hearts, vets, st v's..etc) call us once every month for donations.  You put the box on your door step and they pick it up.  If you don't end up finding a place, I could take it at the gtg and have someone pick it up here for you.
  • How wierd. We always have places to take our clothes.

  • I always donate to Easter Seals.  I hate that at Goodwill...the workers will pick through and keep the good stuff for themselves.  Easter Seals is easy, they have drop boxes if the store isn't open...and if you have larger household items, they'll pick up for you.

  • If you still have them and want to donate them, FIL can always use clothing in the care closet on the psych floor of the hospital he works at. Let me know if you want to donate them there

  • Lifeway Bridge took them, they are part of Cherry Street Mission.

I do need to find a home for unopened Depends (I would hate to throw them away if someone can use them) and a home for my grandma's walker. It's the type where it has the brakes on the handle, folds up, has a seat and under the seat is a place for some storage.

  • hmm i will let ya know if i know anyone who needs either...

  • I am pretty sure Grace Lutheran Church on Monroe St. by Best Buy would take the walker and the depends.  They have a medical closet and lend out the walkers to anyone that needs them.  They also collect other things such as depends for people that cannot afford them.  If you are interested I can get you the contact info.
  • Carrie, thanks for letting me know that! I can google them.
