I am attending a children's Halloween Party at the end of the month, and needed a costume appropriate to wear to such an event. DH and I went out over the weekend to a few stores, and I can not believe how slutty all the costumes were. Even the costumes that one would think would never be made over as sexy or slutty such as "sexy snow white" "sassy sponge bob!" I ended up getting a full length cinderella dress...it was one of two costumes I could find that would cover up most of my body.
Re: Halloween costumes
Like they said in Mean Girls, Halloween is just an excuse for girls to dress slutty and no one can say anything!
I have a terrible time with Halloween because I refuse to go skanky and I always have to scramble around to try to find something... DH is the same thing every year: Neo from The Matrix.
Sexy sponge bob. That's....interesting.
I'm cheap and don't like to spend a lot of money on a Halloween costume I won't wear again, since they are getting pretty $$$. I try to think of ideas where I can adapt regular clothes with. For example, last year I was Elliot from Scrubs. I just wore dressy clothes (like that she wore in later seasons) and borrowed a lab coat from work. I had to buy a blonde wig, but cheaper than a whole costume. This year I'm going to be a witch so I'm going to wear a black dress and shoes/boots I already have and I bought a hat.
There is a parade here and some of the costumes people wear are
I would secretly love to have the confidence to pull off a slutty costume, but that is not happening. This year I will be in black yoga pants, a black long sleeved Gap tee, and ghastly makeup to answer the door.
I totally agreee with this. I also giggled a little at the fact that your DH wears the same costume every year
I will admit that I have totally done the slutty costume thing in my partying years. To be fair, my birthday falls around Halloween so more often than not my birthday parties turned into Halloween parties and our friends would all get together for a fun night out at a club. Ah, the good ol' days!
Yes, he does! And we usually go to a party at the same house every year, so it's the same crowd seeing him! But he gets Keanu Reeves look-a-like comments a lot, so the Neo thing is REALLY easy for him! Haha
OK, that's even funnier! What, he doesn't want to go with a Bill and Ted reference?
Hahahahaha Yeah, maybe if he doesn't want to do Ted, he can throw on a suit and go as the guy in the Devil's Advocate... I could encourage him into a new trend, and he could just go through Keanu's movie catalog!
He's got the hair and the body type, but other than that it's just his face that's shaped like Keanu's, so it's the sunglasses that make him look like him. Fingers crossed that Keanu does another movie with his sunglasses on soon, or we're going to really start looking loony!
