WWYD-Wedding Gift

DH & I were invited to a NYE Wedding and have decided not to attend.

We are going to send a gift, but I'm not sure what to do.  I know I'm going to get an actual gift off the registry as the couple gave us a physical gift at our wedding (typically we gift cash).

I know 100% for a fact that they regifted us Lenox Champagne Glasses that we could not return because they were an outdated pattern from a few years ago.  I actually sold them on the knot to another bride because we had no use for them.  Probably at most they were purchased for $40.  I know this for a fact because the year prior this "friend" told me that she went to a gift with champagne glasses in hand that she was regifting from someone.  She never gave the gift because when she got there no one else had gifts in hand so she took it home.  She must never have remembered telling me the story.

Typically I would spend between $200-$300 on a gift.  Am I being btchy by only spending $40 on a registry gift for them?
