QOTD

How long have you had your car? When do you plan on getting a new car?

Re: QOTD

  • I've had my car for 6 years. I used to put a lot of miles on my car with some brutal commutes but now I walk to work so I don't really drive often. So for now I'll keep my car.

It's also really nice not having a car payment.

  • I have had my car about 4 years now, and I hate it!  It was good until it was beyond the warranty and now no one can figure out what is wrong with it.

I will be getting a new car as soon as DH graduates and is working. Hopefully after the first of the year, and I can't wait! We just traded his truck in as it wouldn't have made it through the winter.

  • My car is about 3 years old, and I've had it the whole time. I was super snotty when I bought it, needing everything that came available, minus navigation. My problem now is that I want an SUV instead, but to get the same things in it would cost me a fortune. For now, I'll enjoy my car and wait to see if a deal falls in my lap.

  • I bought my car in July 04. I plan on driving it until we have kids and I need something larger. It's still in good shape and I love that I'm not paying a car payment.
  • I've only had the one I drive now since April  It was my mother's and she gave it to me when she had to quit driving.  It's a 2001 CR-V and I love it.  It only has about 90K miles on it and I'll probably keep it until it falls apart.

  • Our car's two years old. We probably won't get another one until we move to an area where public transportation is limited and we'll each need a car to commute. For now, we only use it on the weekends for errands or for small road trips here and there.
  • I have had my truck since spring of 07. I still have it but I lend it to my mom since Eddie and I only use his car. We were actually thinking of trading in his car for a truck sometime next year though.

I have never really been a car person and he has fallen in love with the truck Ford came out with.

  • My car is an 03, but I've had it since 05. I will get a new car when I'm pregnant. My car is a coupe and it's hard to get anything out of the backseat. I can't imagine trying to get a carseat in and out of there.

  • I drive an '02 Civic that my parents leased new, so it's almost 8 years old.  When the lease was up I bought it out, so it's been mine since '06, I think.

While this car could easily last me another 5 years (<3 Honda's) a coupe is not the most family friendly vehicle.  I guess we'll reevaluate the car situation when I get "in the family way".  Derek's car will be paid off next year, so why not throw in a new car payment! Yay! Not.

  • My car is an 07 and I bought it new, it already has quit a few miles on it but I will keep it for another 3 years at least. Almost to the point of no car payment!
  • I have a feeling, I have the oldest :)

Mine's a '99 ranger. I bought it new, as a high school graduation present to myself. It has 79K miles, so at this rate, I'm going to have it forever :) This was always the plan.

DH's personal vehicle is a '02 ranger. We're trying to sell it. It's still in AK and not doing us any good. DH drives a '08 Impala here, it's a company car, and he hates it, but its free, so he drives it.

We won't be buying another car until a kiddo comes along, which is years away.

  • I inherited my car from my parents. They bought it in 2003. It's still in really good shape so I'm hoping it'll last at least another few years.

  • We got our car in 2008, it's a 2007 Pontiac G5. So we've only had it two and a bit years... though as soon as we can (or as soon as I'm pregnant) we are buying a Chevy Equionox.
  • I haven't owned a car since I left Toronto in 2004.  But we're planning on buying one next year, which I'm really excited about.  Well, except for the part where I have to actually take the test to get licensed here ...

  • I've had my car for almost five years. It's really reliable and still in great condition so I have no plans to buy a new car anytime in the next few years.

  • I've had my car since January, so 9 months. Even after it's paid off I want to keep it, it's a perfect car for us.

As far as getting a new car, as soon as DH's car is paid off next year, we are going to look for a truck for convenient purposes (moving, camping, furniture buying, etc.)

I think I take the cake. I have a 92 exploder (explorer) I've had it for 2 years, we only bought it cause Russ hit a moose with his truck (04 F-150) and he needed something cheap to get him to and from work until his truck got fixed. He has had his truck for 4 years. Hopefully my vehicle blows up soon so I can get a new vehicle.

  • I just got my car in August.  It is a 2005 Subaru Outback and I love it.  I don't think that I am going to get a new car for a while being that I just got my car.

  • I have had my car for 5 years now.  I bought it brand new with zero miles on it.  I'm paying for the zero miles though.  Car payments on interest are not fun.  I don't think I would get a new car though.  I know my ride and I don't feel comfortable in another car.  It feels like I'm cheating.
