Who's getting excited for Huskers vs. Longhorns?

I'm farrrr too excited!  It's all I can think about!  Reading blogs, surfing the message boards, just ready for a big game despite Texas coming off two losses.

Hoping for a third on Saturday but we'll see!  Hope the Horns have a good trip to Lincoln either way! :)

Re: Who's getting excited for Huskers vs. Longhorns?

  • Eh - Oklahoma State's playing Tech that day, and it's a HUGE game for us, so I've been focused on that. However, H is a Texas fan, and this is his first game back from all his Air Force training...so I'm sure he'll be glued to the TV. :)

I'm anticipating Nebraska will run away with it, but you never know with Texas. This year's been a weird year all around in the Big 12.

  • I'm also getting NERVOUS for the big game next week OSUWifey! :)  We're heading down Friday and will probably go to Eskimo Joes.  We couldn't get a room in Stillwater so we'll be up in Ponca City(?) but I guess that's ok.  I'm pretty excited!  It's my first time (and maybe my last) in Stillwater!

The only two big 12 schools I haven't been to a game at are TTech and Baylor.  Everyone says I'm not missing out.

  • Baha! That's funny about Tech and Baylor - I've heard the same. :P

Ponca City's about an hour away...Guthrie's closer by half an hour, but I bet that's booked, too. Homecoming gets NUTS around here...people started booking hotels in the spring for that. You must go to Joe's! It's delish. You'll also be around for our Homecoming festivities on Friday night, so you should take a walk around campus if you can. Our sororities and fraternities pair up to do house decs based on our Homecoming theme, and it's pretty awesome.

I'm sad Nebraska's leaving the Big 12...I really don't blame them, but I really like Nebraska. Sigh.

  • Just found this board and I'm super excited for the game! I hope NE stomps them!
  • Well that was depressing!

We are headed down for the OSU game, too! Anyone have any tips on gameday..parking, when to get there, etc.

This weekend's going to be NUTS - Homecoming is huge here. If you drive down Friday night, expect detours and lots of traffic since our big Homecoming celebration is that night from 5:30-10:00, then our version of Midnight Madness [a week late, I know] is that night until 11.

On gameday, I recommend you get to campus no later than 1:30 so you can find parking and walk to the stadium. The sooner you can get here, the better. Parking around the stadium is pretty much reserved for Posse members, so you'll need to either park in our Student Union parking garage [$10, but it fills up quick and will probably be full before noon with kick-off being at 2:30] or park where our student housing is.  All the student housing parking is free. You could ALSO park downtown for free and catch a shuttle to campus - if you want more info on that, let me know.  I can post a link for our campus map that'll show you where to park.

If you're sitting in the Nebraska section, I wouldn't worry about this - but if you're not, I recommend you get a seat cushion to mark your seat. People will encroach. Just FYI. :)

OSU's my alma mater, and I live in Stillwater, so if you need anything else, let me know. Good luck this weekend. :)

  • I agree with everything OSUWifey says! Get there early and tailgate! If you can, check out the walk-around on Friday night and the parade Saturday morning! Then just mingle. You should have fun!

Thank you so much for the info!  A link for the campus map would be great and more info on the downtown parking would be awesome!  I can't really tell from google where downtown is...is it close to campus?

ETA:  We aren't in the NE section.  I can never seem to get our away tickets so I usually go through the away team's website.  Usually there are Huskers not too far away from us when we do that.
