Let's talk about stamps

I'm not sure who all is into this... but what are you working on right now?

I'm mainly working on my wedding scrapbook, but if I have an occasion to make a card I'm sure I will use my newfound stamps. :)  I bought a glue pad and some superfine glitter and have made some really pretty designs with those too.

Question... I bought this the other day (not this color, but same brand and everything):

I honestly wasn't sure what it was supposed to be used for... I just liked the look of it, lol.  I chose one of the stamps in a pack that I didn't like as much as the others (haha) and tried it.  The color definitely stained the stamp, but it still worked.  I'm wondering if it's just not meant for clear stamps, or if it will just inevitably stain.  ??  Any insight?

Re: Let's talk about stamps

  • I enjoy the chalks....so far I have only used them for blending color with blender pens.

Meg informed me that acrylic stamps take best when stamped with chalks....so it sound like you are doing the right thing. I have read that there is a sealer you can buy to spray over chalks to keep them from smearing or running, but since I haven't really opened my world to THAT yet, I don't know.

    Have you looked at www.splitcoaststampers.com?

  • oh...and as for what I am working on....I don't really have big projects or anything, but I would like to make a few cards for upcoming birthdays and stuff, and I am working on making all my gift tags for Christmas! :)
  • Thank you!  I guess if the stamp still "worked," then it doesn't matter that it's stained.  I just got nervous and didn't use it on any of my favorites yet!

I looked at the website some, but I just don't know where to start!  I'm so new to it I don't even know where to begin!!

  • oh ok...now I get what you mean by staining... LOL. I don't know what I read just then...

But yeah, your stamps are going to stain. Did you buy a cleaning pad or anything yet? The last time we stamped in a little group...Meg was just cleaning hers with a rag...I didn't notice any fancy acrylic cleaning method...LOL. I would just wipe them down really good, and be done with it!

Lots of my stamps are solid black now, but they still stamp fine with whatever color I am using, and don't show any of the black or other colors or whatever.

  • Oh good!  I'm glad you told me that.  I have been cleaning them with a rag... the first set of inks I got just came right off with no trace left, so it worried me when the stamp was still dark brown!  lol.  But if it's normal, that's great.  I really wanted to use that color!  :P
