Newbie with a holiday party question

Hi Ladies,

I'm new to the board and hoping to get some great ideas from you. I'm planning my company's holiday party this year and am drawing a blank this year as to where to start. We always have a theme and do great favors. I always like to do a craft of some sorts whether it's the favor or centerpieces. Anyone out there have any suggestions as to where I can get some inspiration from? What websites do you frequent.

TIA

Re: Newbie with a holiday party question

  • Its at a upscale italian restaurant with just employees. It is a luncheon. THX!
  • How long have you been with the company? You said it's an Italian restaurant or that's where you are hosting it? I love Martha Stewart, DIY.com, and BHG. May seem cheesy and I am not an old lady by any means but they seem to have some good ideas that have at least inspired me to create something or look further into it. I love doing any kind of crafts too! I think I was on an entertaining 101 website the other day. ( planning my fall party!) I have lots of experience with planning and hosting all sorts of parties, do you already have a theme?
  • How long is the party?  How many peopl?  Who are the people to attend (male/female; ages)?  Do you have to go to work afterward?  What are some of the things they've done in the past?  What's you budget?

I'll be honest the thought of doing a craft at a holiday party would make me want to poke my eyes out with a glue gun.  Favors would depend if these are men or women and a little on ages.

    My first two ideas are:

1- Fill me up with lots of good food.  Have an italian soda station or a coffee/hot chocolate station.  For favors either give me the afternoon off, let me pack up a box of italian pastries, or a pretty ornament.

2- Have a donation party.  Adopt a family and collect donations for gifts.  At the holiday party have everyone wrap the gifts, make bows, or stamp plain white wrapping paper with holday themes.  The favors could be gift wrap/bows/stamps, whatever supplies you use.

Actually I like the idea of a gift wrap package for any favor- paper, ribbon, bows, add some tape and a nice pair of scissors and present in a holiday basket.

  • I can't stop laughing about the idea someone hates crafts so much yet they own a glue gun that they could possibly use to poke their eye out!!?!!! :) lmao!! You just made my night!!!!! I felt that way but only after I made everything for our wedding, I honestly have never hated Hobby Lobby, Micheal's, Home Depot etc so much. Now I am so ready for crafting again, but it sure is funny to see that other ppl r like my bff's. I thought they were going to kill me with all the projects I needed help with!!

p.s. like the idea of a donation party!! super cool especially it's much needed in the holiday season!!
