Hi.
I want to purchase a DSLR. I currently have a Sony Cybershot and I absolutely hate it. Prior to that I had a Canon P&S but I dropped it and broke the lens.
Does anyone have any of these and what do you like/dislike about them?
Canon EOS Rebel XS
Nikon D3000
Sony A390
Do you recommend any other SLR that is around 500.00?

I recentley got the Nikon D3100 after reading some cons of the D3000...and the D3100 is like the step up from it..it was just released like a month or 2 ago when I got it..it's a nice beginner DSLR...I just had point and shoots before, and this is super user friendly and very easy to use...plus the picture quality is amazing
Canon and Nikon are the best cameras, and there really isn't a huge different between them. Canon is known for having more vibrant colors, which I believe is true, I had a Nikon and traded it in for a Canon and loved it! I currently have a Canon Rebel XSI, which is about the same as an XS.
I had a Sony Cybershot and all of the photos came out really dull and pretty dark and needed a lot of photoshop work to brighten them up, so upgrading to a Canon was awesome for me!
I went through this last year. I was between Nikon D3000 and Canon XSI-
I went with the canon, both have pros and cons but overall are great cameras- I really liked the feel of the canon in my hands and the canons' ability to autofocus any lens where as the D3000 will not on all lenses
