Would you serve more than this?

The invitation for the 7pm tree trimming party says "cookies and cocoa," so people won't be expecting a meal.  It's about 25 girls.

Cheese & crackers
Spinach & bread bowl
Asst?d cookies (spice, chocolate, sugar, jam and one other)
Cocoa
Alcoholic punch (this recipe can't be made NA)
Wine
Bottled water

I'm intentionally trying to keep things easy on myself, but if this is skimpy, I'll add more.

Re: Would you serve more than this?

  • This is PLENTY! I'd be happily drunk and full after this:)  the fact that it's later too, everyone has already eaten supper.

If anything...add baileys for the cocoa:)

  • I think people will be fine because it is a little later and like you said, if the invite says cookies and cocoa they shouldn't be expecting too much.  But you could cut up some summer sausage to put with your cheese and crackers just to have something a little more filling, and what about a good chex mix snack?  that should be something easy that you either just buy or make ahead, and it will just give people one more thing to snack on.

I was going to suggest some booze for the cocoa as well.

  • I think you have plenty of food, but I do like the idea of adding a salami or sausage to the cheese.  I'd also consider adding some other sort of non-alcoholic beverage- peppermint iced tea, lemonade, something.  A non-drinker can have water or cocoa and cocoa doesn't exactly quench the thirst.

    I agree.

Just a note: the invite does seem to make it clear that's cookies and cocoa, but to me, 7pm IS dinner time.  I just wanted to throw that out there, just in case any of your other guests think like me.  With that said, if I did come hungry, I think the cheese and dip would help fill me up.  Perhaps, in addition to the crackers, you could provide some french bread which can be a little more substantial.

GL!  Sounds like a great time.
