How much booze should I plan for?

I am hosting a Pumpkin Carving and Cocktails party for girls night this month.  On the invite I said I would provide wine, beer and snacks.  How do I determine how much of each to get?  (There will be between 6-8 ppl).

Homemade pumpkin butter and crackers

Vegetable Platter

Cheese tray

Bowl of snack mix

Since it's girls, I'd get maybe 2-3 bottles of wine and two 6 packs of beer.  (Hornsby's hard cider with the red, not green, label would go well with your theme.)  That should give you wiggle room, but not so much you'll have tons left.

I feel like I'd want something a little more substantial for the food.  I like the suggestion someone gave me below to cut up summer sausage and put it out with the cheese.

I usually use the rule of one drink per person, per hour. So if you have 7 women for 4 hours, then 28 drinks. I consider a bottle of wine to be 4 glasses. This equation seems to always have a little extra left over, so adjust to your crowd
