PIP Poll: Best produce you've had this season? (CSA, Farmer's Market, homegrown)
I thought this would be a fun PIP poll. What's the best produce you've had this year? Either from your CSA, Farmer's Market, or grown at home?
Mine is most definetely Seckel pears from the Farmer's Market. They're small pears that start green with a red tinge, and turn golden yellow when ripe. They aren't grainy like some pears, and aren't sugar sweet either. I've been eating 2-3 a day for 6 weeks. SO GOOD.

Apples. I'm thisclose to Adams County in PA, so there are locally grown apples everywhere.

Ooh... that's tough!
I think I'm going to have to say my purple radishes. Even though I let them overgrow a bit, they are so good!
Oops, edited to add PIP:

I just got a Warren pear in this month's Foodzie tasting box, oh my word it was awesome!

We bought a whole peck of honey crisp apples.......... and they are divine. It's time for apple crisp! Also had REALLLLY good zucchini from the farmer's market this year...
ETA: picture is not mine
My very first homegrown tomato. And, because I was in a photography class at the time and had a still life assignment, I took a picture of it. So I will always have a cool picture that actually happened by accident of my very first homegrown tomato.
Everything from our garden! I've never had such fresh produce before and I loved every moment of it. The okra, swiss chard (one of my new favorite greens!), pumpkins (made SO much pumpkin puree and froze it, tastes awesome), green and wax beans, radishes, arugula, mustard greens, tomatoes...
This was from August - the okra is now taller than our clothes line! It is insane. The backyard looks totally wild.
oy. this is the first year i've really visited the farmer's market, so there are SO many things. but the corn was probably the biggest surprise. i never realized what a big difference there was between fresh corn and supermarket corn.
i also found persimmon at the farmer's market the past 2 weekends, i've been eating those like it's going out of style.
hrm, the summer peaches were also amazing.
gah. too many yummies!
ETA: i just remembered, i just got a longan tree, and it didn't produce much this year, but enough to wet my appetite.
Have you seen my monkey?
