Christmas Gifts

Do you usually tell your husband exactly what you want and then he goes and gets it? Or does he pick out something and you are completely surprised.

Re: Christmas Gifts

  • It depends on the year. Most of the time he gets the same list that goes to the rest of the family since my birthday is in nov. My family demands a birthday/christmas list in oct.
  • Last year I didn't give him a "list" because I wanted to be surprised. I ended up with an automatic kitty litter box (got the automatic feeder the Christmas before that). This year he is definitely getting a list with a couple of good ideas that he can pick between.
  • H usually buys things that I have hinted towards and that way I am surprised, however this year is driving me crazy he said he already knows what he is getting me and I want to know already.

  •  Both. We usually do 3 gifts each.
  • Yea, my DH has been asking. I want to give him a list but I can only think of one thing I want and nothing I need. And I have no clue what to get him because he says don't get me anything or whats some gun that I know nothing about and is like $1000, which is just WAY out of the question! Men! So hard to shop for sometimes! I don't think  we are hard at all because we have no problem saying I want this for Christmas/Birthday. lol Big Smile

  • I usually ask for 2 or 3 "big ticket" items  that I know DH will get me. He then also buys me a handful of smaller "surprise" gifts.

  • It's usually a surprise.  But there have been a couple times when I've just bought my own gifts and give it to him to wrap.  He buys his own all the time.  We actually do wrap them and wait until Christmas to open them though.

  • I do not like surprises much. If I know what I want, i make a list and get it gifted.
  • My whole life I've always been cheated out of big Christmas gifts because my birthday is 3 weeks before it...it sucks!

DH usually gets me something that I've mentioned in passing that I'd like and he's always spot on.  I get him what he's mentioned wanting too so it just seems to work out for us...so far!

  • My husband refuses to accept a list, he thinks it's dumb to shop off of a list, but then he ends up getting me things like socks (no joke) because he's a very utilitarian person. My parents have been married for almost 30 years and my mom has gotten to the point where she bookmarks things she wants on my dad's computer and he just buys it haha.
  • At this point, we do not really have a ton of money for Christmas gifts and haven't given each other any since we were dating. This year we're doing stockings for each other at my mom's house to help her out with costs and we always get an ornament for each other.
  • He sometimes asks me for a couple of ideas so he can choose the gift himself. He says I'm really easy to buy gifts for (I like everything!) so often times he figures something out on his own.

  • I usually tell him something "big" I want... then he acts like we should not spend that much this year, he definitely won't get me that, blah blah.  But he always gets it for me.  Haha.  Then he usually picks out a few small things too, like movies he knows I would like, etc.
  • We don't really do the "lists". I always tell him I want to go somewhere, so we usually go to a resort.

But this year we're going regardless because we had such a good time last year, so he says I have to chose something else.
