Ok, so my mom is in charge of little "corsage" things for a shower this weekend - not with flowers, they're little ceramic bibs with ribbon. It's got a pin on the back, like the way a campaign button does. I have no idea what the official name is. This is for the guests to wear.
For the mom-to-be, my mom wants to put one of the bib things on a real flower corsage. My grandmother, who used to work at a flower shop 20 years ago, says that you can't do orchids, b/c they're for weddings, so it should be tiny roses. My mom wants yellow roses.
I just called my supermarket florist and she said she has white and off white rose corsages for $7.50 and that she'd be happy to change the ribbon to whatever color I want. This sounds like a good enough deal to me and it'll get the job done.
But my mom insists on yellow roses. I'm trying to help her out b/c she get easily overwhelmed and stressed about these types of things.
I guess this post is part vent, part request for suggestions on how to resolve this corsage thing. Help! TIA!
Re: Corsage for mom-to-be @ Shower
I am an event coordinator and I have to laugh on the inside at what people stress over.
That is a good deal.
NO ONE will even notice she is wearing a corsage let alone remember what color it is.
Bummer. Why yellow?
Everything is blue and yellow. The Wilton mold I posted about earlier? You guessed it... Yellow Wilton candy melts in a ducky mold.
The ceramic things are blue, so my mom wants yellow flowers. Plus, the mom-to-be happens to be a fan of yellow. But I think that white flowers with yellow ribbon would be more then ok.
I just want my mom to stop stressing about it. I'm going use your "no one will notice/remember" bit on her. Hopefully, she'll finally realize that it'll be fine. Thanks!!
There's also what's available... She can want yellow roses all day long, but if there aren't any readily accessible, well, she's just out of luck.
Besides, isn't white always part of the yellow & blue color scheme? I assume it's a boy - white and blue always go together!
