Chicago Nesties Needing Advise?!?!?
Hi Ladies. DH is from Greenwood and we are heading back there for his 30th Birthday next month. His family still lives there so we go to Indy all the time, but I am wanting to throw him a surprise party. I was wondering if you ladies had any good ideas or good deals on some places to go. I was thinking downtown since it is only a 20 minute drive. Party packages, new must see places, or other ideas would be much help. Thanks!!
Re: Chicago Nesties Needing Advise?!?!?
There's a lot of options out there. What are you looking for? Something more family - oriented? A cocktail get together for adults only? Dinner? Lunch? Brunch? Just apps or dessert? Do you have a price range? There are so many good places in Indy, but it's hard to make suggestions without a tad more info.
Details....
20-40 adults only
Thinking about 3-4 hours drinks and possible app, about 8pm and price range is open.
Thanks for your thoughts.
I would check out the Mexican place, Adobo Grill. Just opened downtown- and it's originally from Chicago... so maybe DH and you have a connection to it? Pitchers of margaritas and fun!
There's Rock Bottom or RAM- both breweries where you could get some pitchers of their beer and maybe some apps. Both have private event spaces, but I think you have to gaurantee a minimum amount of food/beverage.
Rathskellar is always fun- a German bar. If it's still nice outside, they have a great beer garden. If not, you could always get to the Kellarbar early and squat at some tables! Private event space also available here.
Barcelona Tapas would be a lot of fun, too. Spanish tapas and maybe some sangria! They have a small and colorful room that would be about perfect for your group. I don't know what their rules and costs are for that, thought.
If you wanted to go more upscale/elegant, there's St. Elmo's Steakhouse and Oceanaire, both of which have private dining spaces and excellent food and drinks selection.
A fun Greek place that is just outside of "downtown proper" known as Fountain Square is Santorini's. Amazing huge and tasty portions and a fun atmosphere. Actually... Fountain Square also has Duckpin Bowling (think 50s style diner-ette style and mini bowling balls and pins... much fun!) You could do that- it's really neat. Two of my friends hosted their Rehearsal Dinners there. You could rent out some lanes and they have beer and cocktails avaialble. You could even make DH his own bowling shirt!
Good luck and have fun!
Rock Bottoms basement is also availablefor private functions. They were great to deal with. Fountain Square was also super and you could easily/ would need to rent an entire set of lanes either upstairs or down. FS2 offers a catering menu online. I did what the pp mentioned and order DH and I custom shirts for the day. We also had various "contest" throughout the bowling. The trophies were old bowling pins with plaques on them.
Regardless it sounds like a great celebration is to be had!
