Laundry detergent

If you make homemade laundry detergent and use the basic all natural bar soap, borax and washing soda, is the borax ok for children's clothing or the clothing of people with sensitive skin? Would using vinegar as a fabric softener help to dissolve and wash away any remaining soaps or powders that would normally be left behind?

i don't make my own detergent, but i have tried using borax in my laundry in the past.  i don't normally have reactions to detergents, but i found that whenever i wore something i washed with borax i was super-itchy, and developed a rash on my skin from constantly scratching.  i wouldn't recommend it for young children or those with sensitive skin based on my experience.  i do use white vinegar as a fabric softener, and have had no problems with that.

I make our laundry detergent out of grated soap/borax/washing soda and neither of my kids seem to have an issue with it.

I am sensitive to detergents and softeners, and I haven't had any trouble with borax.

My husband and I both have senstivie skin and haven't had a problem with the homemade laundry detergent.

i have sensitive skin and am allergic to everything and have had no problems. my issue is more with the soap i decide to use and not the borax. i use dr. bronners soap.
