So since it seems like you are SUPER experienced at college GameDay - I have a few specific questions for you....

The university released information that the quad where the show will take place will open at 3:30AM.  They anticipate people will start gathering to get in around 2 or 3AM.  In the information on the university's website it also says that the first 200-300 people will be in the "pit" behind the stage.

My question is - in your experience - do you think that if we arrive around 5 or 5:30 we will make it to the "pit" area?  I am thinking probably not if people are going to start gathering even before it opens.

If we don't make it into that pit area, should we even worry about making signs?  I guess I never really paid attention to what was going on except for the people right behind the stage.

If we make signs - how long should the sticks be that hold them up?  And where do we find those (if longer than a yard stick)?  Or do we just combine yard sticks?

Should we plan on staying for the entire 4 hour show?  We are trying to figure this out because we would normally start tailgating around noon for the 7 o'clock game.  So we are wondering if we should get a little break in between gameday and tailgating...or if we really need to experience the entire thing.

That's all that I can think of to ask right now.  There might be more questions in the next couple of days.  :)

  • Overall, I think it depends on the weather. However, isn't this the first time game day has been to Mizzou? If so and it is important to you to be in the pit area, then I would get there as early as you can stand it.

As far as making signs - that is up to you.  It is possible that if you don't make it into the pit and have a good sign that they will make a place for you (this happened to me the last time we had gameday at OU - my sign had something to do with Leach and Pirates).  Finally, as far as a stick long enough for the sign, go to Lowe's.  I used a piece of wood that is used as a "toe kick" for base in a house.  I used masking tape to tape it to the back of my sign.

Most importantly, just make sure your sign is safe and nothing is poking around that could hurt someone.
