struggling with low desire
I have been struggling with low desire for about 4 years. I ve been with my husband for 7 years and married for 3 months. He has no problem with desire but I could care less if we ever had sex again. We have a wonderful loving relationship. I stopped birth control 4 months ago due to this and we are now practicing NFP. This is starting to affect our relationship and I often feel guilty about not wanting to. Any ideas on what I could do to help this problem?
Re: struggling with low desire
I always suggest a complete physical and a thyroid workup. Thyroid problems can affect libido.
You might also have a hormone deficiency. At any rate, to a doc to determine if your problem is a physical one.
It's normal for sex to wane -- you guys have been together for 7 years -- but not normal for desire to screech to a halt. GL.
I second this.
Definitely go see a doctor.
Agreed with the PPs on the doctor. It's not normal to completely have no desire for sex.
Also, have you orgasmed recently? Sometimes if I don't for a while, then my desire goes down (not a bottom out). Then, after I have sex a couple times and reach orgasm, then my desire goes up the next few days.
Ditto on the trip to the doc. Blood tests can reveal thyroid or pituitary issues -- both of which can affect your libido.
Also, how old are you? How many lovers have you had? When was your first orgasm? How was your sex drive with other partners? Do you masturbate? Do you orgasm when you masturbate? If you decided to masturbate right now, what kind of erotic stimulation would you use to get you off? Sex toys, porn, written erotica?
And bottom line, how good of a lover is your DH?
Yeah Iv never had desire either could care less like you...
1. im preggo now (17 wks) and still could care less, except now I have an 'excuse' and DH is understanding... so dont try and get pregnant in hopes of having a higher sex drive... LIES!
2. I hate that its always our (womens) fault... men and women have different drives. but just b/c ours is lower doesnt mean that something is wrong with US! Why cant something be wrong with them for being TOO horny... piiisses me off.
cheers and good luck
I am in the same spot you are. What is NFP? I am only twenty one and for about 4 years I have not had the desire to do that much at all. And my husband and I have a great relationship. But, like I could careless if we have sex.
Thank God I'm not alone! I've been to a psychologist, a physician that treats sexual dysfunction, gynecologist, you name it. There's nothing wrong with me---except for the possibility of my BC pills and my FI's premature ejaculation issue.
I used to enjoy having sex two years ago, but now I try to avoid it at all costs. My FI is as understanding as a healthy 30-yr old man can be. He wants it 3-5 times a week and I give in once a week. I wish we had a little blue pill...
