Is there a free program similar to Microsoft Publisher?

DH is running Open Office on his computer and it drives me nuts that there's no Publisher option...is there a similar program out there?

Re: Is there a free program similar to Microsoft Publisher?

  • Yes there is an entire suite of tools similar to those found in Microsoft Office including Publisher.  Check out Openoffice.org.  It is also compatible with many Microsoft Products if you save in the appropriate format.  Good Luck.
  • My fault, I didn't read your full post.  You are correct that Openoffice does not have an equivalent to publisher I was thinking PowerPoint.  If you are running Linux Scribus may be a good substitute.  Also if it is a quick project you can download a trial version of MSoffice to get the job done.

    She's already running Open Office.

OO does not have a Publisher equivalent.

OP, you could take a look at Scribus; I haven't personally used it, but it is supposed to be good.  There is also PagePlus (Starter Edition).

ETA: Oh, you must have posted again just as I was, YellowBag.

  • Thanks so much guys! I use publisher quite a bit, so a quick d/l won't work, but I'm going to check out those other programs.

If it comes to it, I'll buy office, but I'm being cheap LOL
