PIP Front Area needs lots of help

Hi Ladies, we have this awkard space in between our parking spots and right in front of our door.  It gets leaves and plant material blown in from the private drive as well as cigarette butts.

What would you do with it?

Re: PIP Front Area needs lots of help

  • If you're worried about the fact that it collects leaves and cigarette butts - I would maybe put in a wood/brick planter that's at least a foot tall.  That might help keep some of that out.  And then plant some small bushes that don't mind shade (looks like the area is covered?) so that you have something in there year round.  And maybe during the spring/summer add some annuals to give it some color?

Pave it. It is directly in the traffic pattern.

Edit: due to it's position, anything you plant there will be stepped on when the driver who parks on the right gets in or out of the car. It also will continue to be a trash trap, and you can't build a wall or planter there, or even plant something tall, because the car door (of the car parked in that right-hand space) will hit it every time it is opened. It is simply too close to that car door, and there is no way to avoid stepping on it when coming or going. Any plant or structure there will conflict with whoever drives that car.
