XP: Destination Recs Needed

Good Morning Ladies,

Dh and I recently agreed to travel with some friends during March/April of next year.  I have taken on the responsibility of researching destinations and I am lost for ideas.  I did have a few, but they were turned down already. :(

Here is the criteria;

Budget is $3-4k per couple (with air, accommodations)
Weather = Lots of sun, hopefully little rain, low temps of 60's & high's can be anything
Beaches are a plus, but we might be willing to give that up (pools are fine)
Good wine & beer are a plus too
Shopping
Things to do = Anything
No Costa Rica - We are going in the fall next year
No Mexico
No Cruises
No AI's

TIA!!!

Re: XP: Destination Recs Needed

  • I'd rent a house or condo through vrbo (or other vacay rental site). Either a condo complex or whole house on/near the beach depending how many people you have.

As for destinations- Fla Keys, Sanibel Island, Scottsdale AZ, Napa and/or Sonoma Valley CA, Charleston SC Area, Texas Gulf Coast area.

We've never been but they're all on our list- good luck!

  • what about Napa Valley, I think there is a lot to do.  Wine tasting,  shopping, spas, seeing the Redwoods, going to san fransico.

In the Caribbean I want to go to Harbour Islands in the bahamas.  I remember seeing it on the Travel Channel.  The resort was Pink Sands.  Maybe someday we will get there.

  • I LOVE the idea of Napa, because of ti's beauty, culture, food and of course wine- but gotta warn you- it's chilly there in the early spring.

Florida's Gulf coast has some great houses to rent. My favorite beach int he world is Siesta Key- the sand is as soft as baby powder, and there are lots of great restaurants. It's NOT in the keys though- it''s mid golf coast. In the key's I like Islamorada better than Key West. Easier to get to (shorter drive) and the houses you can rent there are AMAZING! Also- Alabama has some amazing beaches- and they're much less expensive than the other better known beach towns. I like Orange Beach and Gulf Shores.
