When are you giving out halloween candy?

I just mentioned that we didn't get a single trick-or-treater last year.

Our small downtown does a business trick-or-treat where the kids come at 5pm and go to all the downtown businesses. Last year they did this on Fri night (i'm guessing so that they could do it after school while they were supposedly already dressed up?). We live really close to our downtown in a neighborhood and I guess because Halloween was on Sat. last year the kids who already came to our area on Fri. didn't come back. This year, with Halloween on Sunday will kids trick or treat on Sunday night or Saturday night still???

Re: When are you giving out halloween candy?

  • I was planning on doing it Sunday.  I can see your predicament though!
  • Sunday.

  • Our town is doing a "Trunk-or-Treat" Saturday, where people line up their cars by the Elementary school and kids go from trunk to trunk getting candy.

I do know that our local news station has a listing on their website of all the cities/towns in their area and when their trick or treat is, but when I was growing up, trick or treat was an area thing and I went trick or treating numerous times within the same city (which wasn't big - I grew up in Amish Country).  But I don't think there's many kids in my neighborhood to trick or treat anyways, so I'm not even bothering.  I have to attend the sorority collegiate meeting Sunday night anyways, so I was just going to bring them candy.

  • I live in a small too, but our local paper put the Halloween schedule out for all.  Most of the area is doing it on Saturday night.

My inlaws asked when it was and I said Saturday but some places are doing it on Sunday.  "OH MY GOD people have no respect do have Halloween on Sunday".  Really.  Is it that terrible?  Traditionally its all about candy for kids and come on people is God going to look down on you for celebrating on Sunday?  I could think of a lot more terrible things that people do on Sunday.  geeze.

  • I rarely see it on a Sunday because of the church aspect.  I think it makes sense more so because it is a school night.  I'd rather do it Saturday so they could get over their sugar high (*hopefully*) before they come back to my classroom on Monday.

  • I'm hoping trick or treaters come Sunday night because I'm going to be out of town Saturday.
