I need some help with Clomid...I started today on CD 29 (can't believe it). So I'm supposed to start Clomid on days 5-9. I'm going to ask my Dr. too, but will Clomid make my cycle regular so that I ovulate around CD14? I'm trying to figure out when to time sex...HELP!
Re: Tania and Whit
Clomid is used to help stimulate ovulation. Your doctor should be doing ultrasounds to moniter where your follicles are at in their growth. My guess is that if you're doing the Clomid on days 5-9, you'll probably have an ultrasound on day 10. Then, depending on the size of your follies, your doc will decide what to do. Sometimes it's more meds, sometimes you'll trigger to cause ovulation.
Clomid also has a s/e of decreasing CM. You might want to order some Pre-Seed to use if you're concerned about that.

It will not necessarily regulate it. I started looking for ovulation on Day 10 but I scanned the chart galleries on FF and it was anywhere between day 12 and 28 for women who successfully ovulated.
Goodluck!

I asked about that when they called me today to call in the prescription and she said she doesn't monitor with ultrasounds unless I feel pain. It might be because all of my other labs came back normal...I don't know. We shall see. All I know is that I have never had a period this bad in my life. It sucks.
That's not good at all!!! You need to be monitored. Clomid helps the follicles grow. You could end up like octomom without proper monitoring. Or, your follicles could not respond at all and that's helpful to know too.
Well, I guess that I don't really know from experience, but from talking on the TTTC board, it's very important to be monitored. Those girls get pretty darn fiesty if someone comes on and says that their RE or OB/GYN isn't doing ultrasounds.
I hope you feel better soon!!

Yeah I thought so too, and I know what you're saying. However, my Dr. is a good Dr. though and she's very reputable. I have to believe that if she's comfortable with me not being monitored, then it's the safe thing to do.
I always laugh when the women over on TTTC "yell" at women when they say they aren't monitored. They get feisty, don't they?! What one woman's Dr. does for her is not necessarily what another's would do. Because I don't have PCOS or Endometriosis (just stubborn ovaries), I guess the monitoring is not necessary. They did go through the whole spiel about the slight chance of multiples with Clomid. 1-3%.....I'll probably be the 1-3%. LOL!

(BTW, I hate being late for posts since I do not get on-line at work).
I am going to my regular OB/GYN for all of this and she is not monitoring me as well. I would never mention this on the other boards since they jump all over women for doing this but I have talked to my doctor about this and am comfortable with it since I do trust him. As long as you are comfortable with your doctor, I think it is totally fine to not be monitored that closely.
