So Ryan is sick
fever since yesterday but really no other symtoms, tugging his ear a bit but not sure if that was teething or ear...anyway, I brought him to the pedi today and at that time (1:00) his fever was 103. They gave him Motrin. Everything checked out fine - ears, throat, etc. Dr said that this must be the virus of the week and she has seen many kids this week with a fever and no other symptoms - some with high fevers. Came home, he napped and then I took temp again, it was around 102. At 5:30 he fell asleep in my arms - totally UNLIKE him. I changed him, took his temp again and it was 104....So I have him tylenol. Just gave him a lukewarm bath as the on call nurse recommended....put him to bed. Am going to wake him up at 10 to check temp and maybe give more tylenol. What else could/should I be doing? the nurse said fever 105 and above is considered dangerous so wwe will keep our eye out for that...I'm kind of freaking out here, his temp has never been this high......
Re: fever help??
Thanks Maura - he has been eating and drinking prettty normally for him. when i wake him to check the temp and give more meds, should i try and give him water or pedialyet? he is still not good with the sippy cup so i will maybe try to give it to him in a bottle if you think i should....
